![]() I think 3 stars is the only 'reasonable' score I can give to an album that is anything but. 'Desert Search for Techno Allah' is an oddly apt title for that particular track and it is great, in a very weird way, but as a fan of music and as a long time guitarist.I have absolutely no idea what's going on here at the best of times and wouldn't know where to begin in trying to cover one of these songs should I wanted to, which I don't! The rest of the album is equally weird and seemingly directionless, it can be like a hammer to the face or ignored as background music. ![]() There is a weird, instrumental menace to the opening combo 'Everyone I Went.' and 'Chemical Marriage,' while track 3 'Carry Stress.' is totally bonkers, there's no other way of putting it, the vocals are all over the place and the music skits from pure, monstrously heavy thrash riffs to a chilled, surf guitar and keys outro.and that's just a basic summation. Bungle was amazing, but occasionally, this mad scientist of (mostly) heavy metal concoctions, takes a weird, left turn, misstep and this one might be one of those unfortunately. Faith No More-era Patton is miles better than what came before it, Tomahawk is great, the first Mr.
